Just a few comments on last night's game. We were playing another team who is far inferior to us talent wise. Nonetheless there are some things that I see that encourage me.

Senario Hillman, who last year regularly put up bricks from the perimeter, showed a nice touch on his jumo shot last night, hit several mid range jump shots and even drained one three. He led all scorers with 21.

Yameni Coleman also showed good touch out to about 15 feet. He looks like he will be a force to contend with.

Ron Steele hasn't needed to show his offense yet, but he still has great court awareness. There was a sequence where he was in the middle on a three on two fast break. The defenders cut off his passing lanes, so he exploded to the basket and scored on a nice finger roll.

Anthony Brock is showing himself to be a capable playmaker, with some very adept passes. He also has a nice stroke from the perimeter.

Andrew Steele saw a fair amount of playing time after missing the first exhibition game. He looked a little out of control at times, but did drain a three.

The Sunday game against Mercer will be much more of a test. I know that they are an A-Sun team, but this is the same outfit that beat USC (and O J Mayo) out there last year, and gave us a pretty good scuffle last season in Macon.

Joe, does it look like R. Steele will ever be back to where he was a couple of years ago athletically?

He's very close right now. He hasn't needed to really cut it loose yet because of the level of the opposition, but just from the way he's contesting loose balls and scrapping on defense he doesn't really seem limited. It may be kind of like the running back who's had knee surgery, and is a little tentative until he's really cut loose and shown that everything is fine.

I think we'll know a bit more after Sunday night's game, as Mercer has some very good perimeter players.
