I hope we kick it right to them honestly, speed isn't everything. I rather have a player who runs a solid 4.4 or 4.5 with great vision and cut back ability. Your not the only team with weapons on special teams...

you guys should kick it deep...our special teams have been poor all around the last few years...i'm not expecting any kick off return T.D.'s
i will however have to defend ford and spiller...they both have great vision and cut back ability...they are football players, not just speedsters
both are very dangerous but need help to be successful (most of the time)...there are always exceptions though

I feel containing Spiller and Davis is a difficult challenge. They are most likely the best RB tandem in the NCAA. They are not however on the same level as McFadden and Jones that we saw last year. I think we will be fine. _________________
any takers? Both are faster than anyone on bamas team.
With pads changes times drastically. Yep, they're good. But, stats give a very vague idea about a player. See the Patriots. _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Number of carries is not the issue. DMac is one of those once in a lifetime players. I don't care how good Spiller is or Davis is, you cannot compare them to Dmac and Jones. Jones was better than either, and Dmac was better than him. Jones was a freak player...there is a reason that DMac was the #4 overall draft pick, and Jones was number 22 overall. When either of your guys are picked higher, then you can talk.
DMac could tote the rock 40 times in a game and still be breaking tackles and long runs. Most RB's would have already been on a stretcher.

mcfadden and jones, as a duo, got almost exactly 100 more carries than davis and spiller (458 to 359)
spiller got about 2X more receptions than jones so is used a bit more in the passing game than his counterpart
davis averaged 4.97 y/carry last season mcfadden 5.63 (granted against better d's)
one of the big difference is Clemson's willingness to rely on the passing game to get things done
truth be known...i was frustrated at times last season when we actually appeared to completely abandon the running game
i would say arky leaned on the run and CU probably has a more balanced attack
see QB stats...
C.D. 150 out of 262 for 1695 yards 18 td's 10 int's
C.H. 282 out of 433 for 2991 yards 27 td's 6 int's

Actually we go to more VT games than Virginia. I should have clarified. We live approx. 90 miles outside of Blacksburg. Go ahead and post all the Clemson crap you want. I assure you the ACC is not the SEC. Keep diggin' with that shovel cause the sh#t is getting deep. I hate the ACC but the schools have treated me extremely well here in Virginia. VT is always overrated along with BC and Clemson. Hell, the whole conference is a joke when you have watched the SEC and ACC as long as I have. The only comparable teams I have seen in the PAST are Miami and F-State as far as speed and FEROCITY are concerned and they aren't playin BAMA, CLEMSON is. Aug. 30th is coming fast, so enjoy you youtube shenanigans and smack talk while it lasts. The train is coming to your sh***y little conference. I will say this, if Clemson was playing Bama last year or a few years ago I would not say a word to your snide remarks because I would be afraid of you posts after the game. Alabama will win. I assure you. I will bet the house on it. We are just good enough to beat the Clemsons of the world. Will we win the SEC? Not this year.
To be fair:
The SEC holds an 251-117-10 (.677) all-time advantage.
In the past 10 years (1998-2007) the SEC leads the ACC in head-to-head games with a 41-30-0 (.577) record.
One must also remember that Miami played in the BIG LEAST in the recent past.
Most of the ACC wins were against the historically "weaker" teams in the SEC. _________________ There are two types of players: wolves and sheep.I want wolves...

Just becasue they are fast, doesn't mean that they know how to read the field and make smart cuts. Kick to them till there is a reason not to.
Same thing with Arenas. Are they going to kick away from him becuase he returned a few last year. No. Untill Arenas hurts Clemson, they should kick to him, like anyone else.
With that thought process, nobody would ever get returns. Kick away.

And as far as Spiller and Davis. I also think its like Jones and McFadden. And when I say that, I mean hold your breath everytime they touch the ball. You know they are going to break one eventually. Gonna happen. You just got to hope its a 45 yard first down, and not a 45 yard touchdown. You have to hold them on 3rd down, but in doing that, it opens up other options, like the TE.

Its going to be rough.
No question about that. The defense will have to go out and play hard on every down to try and contain them. They are two really good backs. The defense will have their hands full. _________________

typical SEC fan boy spew (we hear it from our neighbors in Columbia all the time)
FSU beat you last year...remember?
does that count as win over a "weaker" team in the SEC?
i promise you Clemson matches up from a "speed and ferocity" standpoint with most teams in your beloved SEC...
our stadium, our fans, our facilities, not much room to knock Clemson...we are every bit SEC caliber in those regards

Facts don't lie my friend.
thank goodness we are playing Bama then and not the facts
these facts mean about as much in the opener as Clemson's preseason projections
