The traditional endzone-mounted scoreboard may give way entirely to corner-mounted scoreboards/video screens with the eventual addition of the South endzone upperdeck.
I am curious to hear your thoughts on if/how this changes the stadium experience. Let's keep in mind that the current scoreboard platform also houses a sizable bank of speakers that will also have to be addressed should this change go through.

Speaker wise, could only improve the sound quality.
Video wise, not as big, but better picture as well.

| I've been wondering about that. If they add on to the south side, what happens to the screen and scoreboard? The corner boards are nice but I think they could be a little bigger. But, it wouldn't seem right not having the big scoreboard in the endzone. Decisions decisions. I didn't vote either way on this because neither is better than the other IMO. I do wonder why they didn't fill in the corners with more seats when they added on to the North and wrap the upper seating around, instead of sections. That would've added about 1000 or more seats. Just my opinion.

I believe it was structurally impossible to fill in the endzone due to the ramps up to the decks and will also be so for the south end as well.

Concur. Structurally impossible, which really steams me because that implies a complete lack of foresight and/or faith in the belief that someday we might actually be able to seat more that the 70,123 that the first two decks reached.
It seems to me that we will be left with the option of placing a board freakishly high on top of one or both of the endzones, or going with the size limited boards in the corners.
I do not know of another stadium that uses only corner boards. Does anyone know of one?

A few NFL stadiums are done this way. Texas Stadium does it in a fashion...they are above the seats but in the corners.

What I think is lost with the stadium improvements over the last few years is how much BDS is patterned after a lot of the NFL stadiums. One thing, for sure, it's not lost on the recruits.

What I think is lost with the stadium improvements over the last few years is how much BDS is patterned after a lot of the NFL stadiums. One thing, for sure, it's not lost on the recruits. |
I would beg to differ in two respects.
First, you'll not find a Pro stadium with 92,000 fans in it. Being one of those school that can say, "Son, when you leave here you will never play in front of a larger crowd in your life" is a big selling point.
Second, tradition vs. commercialism. The kid can play at a stadium named for "the Bear" and on a field where Nameth, Bennett and Alexander ruled, OR you can play at a stadium named for a shaving razor, pet supply store, or cell phone company which is 8 years old because that last stadium was not marketable to the fan base even though it was 22 years old.
