I watched the Outside The Lines episode where this was covered. USC issued a statement that this had been investigated by the PAC 10, NCAA and the school, and no rules violations were found. This sure feels the same as the Reggie Bush situation. I guess its ok as long as USC does it. _________________ "Panem et circenses"

Mayo had been receiving money since high school so I suppose this could be called a pre-existing relationship.
What strikes me as odd in this is when Tim Floyd was recruiting Mayo he was instructed that the calls needed to go through him (Guillory, not directly to O.J.
I see (on ESPN.com) Mayo is denying he took any gifts.

College athletics is getting so out of control it's like the NCAA and the member institutions are not even pretending to play within the rules any more. _________________

The NCAA has announced they are going to review the situation. Either, the statement from USC wasn't true or the NCAA realizes this has happened twice in the last few years at USC and it needs to be looked into in further detail.
With all the press on Bush, and now a ruling in court that the NCAA has a right to review the court transcripts and evidence this may be the beginning of a ball rolling. If you recall, the court in Mphs. made the same ruling in our case which gave the NCAA the right to review all the testimonies.

As an old buddy of mine used to say when things had really gone his way "excellent".
If nothing else, the payments being made to Mayo before he enrolled at USC should raise a question of his amateur standing. _________________ "Panem et circenses"

I suspect their stating it had already been looked at was referring to when it was looked at BEFORE he enrolled. Now, both the PAC-10 and NCAA are stating "investigation."
I've watched a few of the ESPN shows tonight and those with commentary are all saying LOIC...Tim Floyd and staff should be fired, perhaps the AD as well. And, to let that serve as a warning to the football program.
When Bush does go to court and those depo's are made public record USC is going to be back in the news in a BIG WAY.

My question: USCe allowed sporting agents to watch their football practices and even locker room access. Did the backetball program do the same?
That is definately FTM and LOIC. _________________

FTM = Failure To Monitor
LOIC = Loss Of Institutional Control
LOIC is the "Big Kahuna" of all the charges that the NCAA can make against a member school. FTM is serious, but not quite as serious. _________________ "Panem et circenses"
