I just got back from watching The Dark Knight(12:00am showing), and I thought I'd let you guys and gals know what I thought.

First, let me say that I have been looking forward to this movie ever since the Batman Begins credits rolled up on the theater screen in 2005. I have NEVER looked forward to a movie more in my life! I had absolutely the highest expectations a person can have for a movie.

That being said, have you ever had such high expectations for a movie that when you actually saw the film it wasn't as good as you had hoped since you built it up so much? Well, this didn't happen. This movie EXCEEDED the EXTREMELY high expectations I had! It was absolutely, freakin' awesome!!

I'm not going to give anything away, but I have to say something about Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. It was one of the best acting performances I have ever seen. In fact, he was so good that this movie didn't even seem to be about Batman, but instead seemed to be a movie about the Joker. I was completely blown away by him. When I remember Heath Ledger, no longer will I think of him as Jake Gyllenhaal's gay lover in Brokeback Mountain. From now on, Heath Ledger will forever be remembered as the greatest movie villain of all-time.

I HIGHLY recommend that everyone go see this movie the first chance you get. icon_thumright.gif

I guess I need to see the movie, because when I think of Heath Ledger, I think of a dumba$$ that had everything, including a precious little baby girl and threw it all away because he loved drugs more than anything else.

I do want to see the movie.

The report concludes, in part, "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine."[6][81] It also states definitively: "We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications."[6][81] The medications found in the toxicological analysis are commonly prescribed in the United States for insomnia, anxiety, depression, pain, and/or cold symptoms.[6][81] The Medical Examiner's Office also announced that it would not be publicly disclosing the official estimated time of death.[87][88] The official announcement of the cause of Ledger's death heightened concerns about general "abuse of prescription medications."[7][86] Late in February 2008, a still-ongoing DEA investigation of medical professionals "cleared" two American medics, who practice in Los Angeles and Houston, of "any wrongdoing," determining that "the doctors in question had prescribed Ledger other medications–not the pills that killed him."[89][90]

I am the first to defend anyone that takes prescription drugs as prescribed. Ledger was obviously not taking these medications as prescribed. An "accidental overdose" is like accidentally getting bitten while playing with a rattlesnake. "Duh, I didn't intend for it to bite me."

If you take a handful of pills that are not prescribed for you by a reputable physician and you ignore that warning labels that clearly tell you to consult with your pharmacist or doctor regarding possible drug interaction, you are irresponsible and an idiot.

As a parent, he owed his child more than that, regardless of the circumstances.

My apologies to Bamaman37 for hijacking his thread.

i understand your point & i agree to a certain degree just because of his baby girl. it's just all hard to believe how someone could do that on purpose, i think a lot was maybe the dr's fault because a lot of those drugs are not to be taking together.

This movie sounds like it is one that will actually live up to all the publicity. I will not go see the movie, not a batman fan, but I do know my sons will want to see it soon. Last night, little Bama (18) wanted to go to the midnight showing but I wouldnt allow him to go because he has a noon baseball game.

So this is really good, huh? I've been on the fence about it. Although I've always liked everything Batman (comic books, TV, movies), I've thought that Heath Ledger just looks kinda creepy in this one. I guess I will have to go see it then and see for myself, since 37 gives it such a high review. 37, you better be right!

If you've ever seen the first Batman movie with Jack Nicholson playing The Joker, you would say the same thing about that movie.

Heath Ledger did a much, MUCH better job than Nicholson, IMO.
