I learned how to drive in a truck like that, but it had a straight six and three speed on the tree.
This one had a straight six and an three speed automatic originally, but the crate 350 and a 700r4 transmission replaced them. The overdrive AT is much better for highway. I also swapped out the 3.73 rear end (standard with a six) for a 3.08 (standar for V to make it a little more practical. With first and second geared lower in the 4-speed it still has more giddy-up than I need.
